Quran is the book of Allah Almighty that he revealed on the Prophet Muhammad PBUH as a way of guidance for the Muslims. It is a very important part of a Muslims life. The recitation of the Quran helps an individual understand the way of life. Every word of the Quran gives an insight to a hundred things. Quran was sent down to us as a way of guidance. It holds a very dear place in the heart of the Muslims. In the early times, the time of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, Quran was preserved through memory. All the companions of the Prophet would memorize the verses of Quran when they were revealed on the Prophet. The only way of preservation was through learning. The companions accompanied the Prophet and asked him to teach them the verses so that they can memorize the word of Allah Almighty. It was later on when verses were gathered from person to person and were given a shape of a book with 30 parts known as the Juz.
Learning the Quran
It is necessary for a person to learn Quran. Learning the Quran can mean two things;
- Learn how to read the Quran
- Memorise the Quran
Learning how to read is considered to be easy. As it is in Arabic thus one just has to learn how to read the Arabic script. There are basic rules that one can learn and from there onwards, the rest of the recitation is very easy. The main effort comes in the pronunciation of the letters which one needs to focus on because a word pronounced wrong can change the entire meaning of the word. On the other hand, memorizing the Quran is very hard. The verses get mixed up and can slip your mind very easily. The clear solution to that is to revise it every day.
